In the heart of Norway’s male-dominated black metal scene, a new star has begun to rise in the dark sky. Nikoline, Victoria, and Johanna have made a three-year pact, promising each other that they will awaken the world, and themselves as witches. The way they plan to do that is through their feminist black metal band Witch Club Satan. A band they started even though none of them really knew how to play an instrument.

But that doesn’t matter, because they seek the help of witches, and the three young womxn intend to scream and shout like hell to challenge the patriarchy. They quickly end up on the biggest stages, but the battle has only just begun.

Haunted by the echoes of the witch trials, Hex asks: what does it mean to be a free womxn today? And are witch hunts really a thing of the past?
